  11.        viewZIP 1.0 is a ZIP compressed file viewing utility for Red Ryder Host,
  12. Mansion, and WWIV bulletin board users. This version simply allows you to see
  13. the contents of a ZIP file before downloading.

  15. A Short Explanation of ZIP Files
  16.        ZIP files are files created with Phil Katz' compression utility PkZIP,
  17. which compresses files for transfer.  It is available on the IBM PC and the
  18. Amiga (as well as others). Several programs (i.e. Unzip) on the Macintosh will
  19. extract ZIP files.

  21. What This Version DOES NOT Have
  22.        This version of viewZIP lacks:
  23.           -    uncompressing files
  24.           -    control of multiple directories of ZIP files
  25.           -    viewing ZIPped files
  26.           -    any sophisticated screen manipulation (pauses/etc.)
  27.           -    unarchiving files to smaller ZIP packages
  28.        If enough interest is expressed, I may add several things:
  29.           -    all of the above
  30.           -    StuffIt file viewing (if someone could provide me some code)
  31.           -    Packit file viewing (ditto)
  32.           -    multiple directories
  33.        If there is REALLY a lot of interest, I may add:
  34.           -    downloads from the door (XMODEM/YMODEM/maybe ZMODEM)

  36.        ZIP, SIT, and PIT files are almost impossible to handle within the
  37. constraints of the Pascal environment: I'm working on learning C, so that
  38. may change things in relation to the functions which can be added...

  40.        To set up viewZIP, follow these steps:
  41.  
  42.           2.   Place the viewZIP application in the same path as your bbs.
  43.           3.   Copy the viewZIP support files to the data folder.
  44.           4.   Add the viewZIP as a door choice within the bulletin board.
  45.           5.   Launch viewZIP from WITHIN YOUR BBS.
  46.           6.   Set the host bbs path, where the ZIP files exist,  and what
  47.                application you wish to quit to after running viewZIP.
